John Swing Scholarship

  • Candidates must reside in Costa Rica to apply and currently be in their Grade 8 or 9 year (in good standing).
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation from a teacher, community leader, mentor, coach, or someone who can attest to the candidate’s personal and professional character.
  • Candidates will write a 500-word essay responding to the following prompt:
    • John E. Swing highly valued equity in education. He was always willing to help passionate, driven and talented students who aspired to attend a world-class  university. Write an essay that describes your background, passion, drive and talent. Why do you think you should be selected as a recipient of John E. Swing scholarship?
  • A video (no more than one (1) minute) to tell your story.
  • Selected candidates or Finalists will be asked to attend Berkeley Academy for a one-day student evaluation.
  • Please submit all application materials to swingscholarship@berkeleycr.com by March 4, 2025.
