Student Orientation
– Getting to know teachers, classmates, resources, our campus, and most importantly ourselves. We cannot begin the year without first identifying who will be the important pieces of your child’s school experience. Who is my new mentor? Who are my new friends? What resources can I utilize to enhance my learning development? How do I fit into all of this? All of these questions will be answered through team building activities and exercises in every class at Berkeley Academy.
– Knowing the school and classroom rules. Successful students need to know what is expected from them at Berkeley Academy in a very clear and concise manner as it relates to academics and conduct. We have student-parent contracts to be read and signed.
– Initial assessment and evaluation. To define our goals and objectives, we must first take our students and properly assess their skills and evaluate their academic and behavioral capacity. We take an extra week after Student Orientation to comprehensively document your child’s academic levels in math, English language arts, speaking and writing.
– Defining our students’ goals. Successful students need to know their goals clearly. At Berkeley Academy, we will set both academic and personal goals during Student Orientation (after our initial assessment and evaluation.
