Alex Cortes is Berkeley Academy’s Deputy Head of School and High School AP Math Instructor.
Mr. Cortes has an extensive academic background with degrees in Journalism (BA) and Economics (MA), and eight years of teaching experience that includes university-level courses. As a lead teacher for high school, Mr. Cortes successfully managed the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) program resulting in world-class admissions at Berkeley Academy. His ability to comprehensively prepare students in upper-division math is considered one the best in the country. In his new role as the Deputy Head of School, Mr. Cortes expands his responsibilities to include managing Berkeley Academy’s elementary department. With this background, Mr. Cortes is committed to ensure Berkeley Academy’s elementary is one of the strongest STEM programs in the region.
